The B12 T12 Meme: Now 20% More Mellow Than EJ!

Thursday I put out a call to fellow bloggers to 'MEME' their 12 favorite songs of all time. And it looks like EJ, Honey, Saga answered the call. I'm posting mine late (due to MT issues), but now i'm back in this b!tch!

12. You Will Rise - Sweetback featuring Amel Larriuex
Amel always sounds sweet. And then pair that with Sweetback (who are Sade with the "Sade") and you get a dope cut. The hook stays with you.

11. No Stranger To Love (Want You) - Roy Ayers
I discovered this one when I found out it was sampled for Jill Scott's "Watching Me". And then I listened to the whole cut. Whew!!!

10. I Believe (When I Fall In Love With You It'll Be Forever) - Stevie Wonder
This song is DOPE! To me it doesn't sound like Stevie's style, but it has his flavor all over it. I can't bump this forever.

09. Destiny - Zero 7
The masters of chilled music! I think I heard this played on an episode of some cheesy WB show. I had to hunt it down and found that the album, "Simple Things" became one of my favorite CD's of all time.

08. Someday We'll All Be Free - Donnie Hathaway
It's sad that he didn't get his true recognition until he was gone. This is an incredible song of inspiration.

07. Hear Me - Jazzyfatnastees
The hook in this song haunts me. I can't help was sing along everytime i hear it.

06. After The Dance (Reprise) - Marvin Gaye
The memory tied to this song is I went fishing with a few friends of mine during college. I went on the roof of the houseboat with a patio chair and fished while i blasted this song in my headphones. Love it!

05. Human Beings - Seal
Seal makes 'my music'. An over abundance of strings always appeals to me. Apparently this is the song he wrong after he broke up with Tyra Banks. Now it all makes sense!!!

04. Love Ballad - L.T.D.
This is me and Mrs. Kelley's song. She'd been a big fan of the George Benson version, but the L.T.D. version became 'THE VERSION' for us! Now when we here it we get all mushy! LAME <--

03. Love Is Stronger Than Pride - Sade
This is THE SADE song for me. Minimalistic keyboard with her sweet voice at the forefront. Man, I could just listen to this forever.

02. Will You Be Mine - Anita Baker
Listen to Anita's voice in this song! She rides the emotion of the composition perfectly. Did I menation i love strings and vibes? This song is incredible...

01. Superheroes - Esthero
Did I mention i LOVE STRINGS and VIBES?!? Again, minimalistic stuff here! And Essie sounds so dope. I can never get enough of this cut. It's so simple, yet it has so much soul. I usually set this on loop and let it go.

Man, you are a mellow cat. I need to up the ante on your arby. I'm sure I'm not the only one stuck on this one. It's bad though, I don't think I've ever heard the Jazzyfatnastees' cut. I can listen to Esthero beginning to end every day. Seal, Donny, Anita...whew!

Man, I was just over there mellowed out at EJ's place and now this. You just knocked me smoove the f* out. Excellent, excellent choices. See you should have let us do a list of like 25 so I could include some of these, LOL. We have alot of the same artists, Stevie, Donnie, Sade, and Anita and Esthero barely missed my list. LOL, like the new title too, yall are a trip ;)

TK, you rocked it brah. It was murder trying to get only 12, and like Honey mentioned had the list been just a taaad bit longer, I would've got my other selections in there. But the challenge of limiting them to a dozen was just as tight too. Thanks for the awesome meme man. You did a dope list, man. Was thinking of making a radio.blog out of it if i got the storage space

Nice list. People like Donnie and Anita were right outside of my bubble. This was too freakin hard. I don't think even 50 would've been enough. Can we try 500 next time?

Great list Todd. I don't know how I'ma get mine down to 12. I think that Esthero track may make my list as well. I didn't know she was so popular, she'll be on mine, yours and Ej's lists. Love the Sweetback and Jazzyfatnastees tracks too. And of course LTD and Marvin are just straight up classics. Damn, maybe we should do a top 100 :-) You know how we do!
