Mayor Ray Nagin Shows His Whole Ass on WWL-AM.. And For Damn Good Reason!!

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin ripped President Bush and the Government a new one about their pathetic excuse of disaster relief for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In an interview with Garland Robinette, my man Nagin bled his heart out with the frustration he felt from our country's failure to mobilize quick enough to bring relief in this horrible situation.

I can't tell you how I felt hearing this dude just let it all go on the air. If and when the Republicans try to hang Ray out to dry, we need to mobilize and help him. I got a bad feeling about this whole thing. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but this is all ringing a little too much like... i don't know... I don't want to say... I haven't checked the stats lately, but i'm sure New Orleans wasn't 99.5% Black, yet all the faces i've seen and the reports on violence have been with black faces in the background. Is there a connection between what these 'refugees' look like and Bush's response? I don't know...

But my man Ray hit something very interesting. This is the most horrible natural disaster in American history, and we get as a response is the president flying over it in a helicopter and then saying how 'horrible' the situation is? No f*ckin' shit! In the (now) immortal words of Mayor Ray Nagin:

"I don't want to see anybody do anymore goddamn press conferences. Put a moratorium on press conferences. Don't do another press conference until the resources are in this city. And then come down to this city and stand with us when there are military trucks and troops that we can't even count. Don't tell me 40,000 people are coming here. They're not here. It's too doggone late. Now get off your asses and do something, and let's fix the biggest goddamn crisis in the history of this country."

I'm SO proud of this man. I've listened to that interview a few times and I'm in awe. Very few people in his position would ever have thought about saying something like he did. He broke.it.down! Do you know what really got me about the interview though? This man was so angry at the very start then towards the middle you can just hear how much he feels for this people and it turns to an overwhelming sense of "just damn"...got me very emotional. Much props to this man.

In my opinion, the mayor had to go off to get the attention of the big wigs in DC. I'm just disgusted how the Haves have ignored the suffering of the Have Nots. It's such a disgrace.

In a time and place where politicians are ridiculed for all talk and no action, Mayor Nagin has been a welcome and necessary change. In a crisis of this magnitude, we dont, as he perfectly stated, need more press conferences. We need HELP, ACTION, PEOPLE. Dont tell them that people are coming, SEND THEM! PEOPLE ARE DYING! I am appalled at the slow response to the biggest natural disaster since the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. Some say he may have committed political suicide with his historic interview. But Im sure that the reaction his statements stirred will have his name remembered long after his bureaucratic counterparts names are long forgotten. God Bless you Mayor Nagin. You are indeed The Man.

First..*thumbs up to Ray Nagin* Secondly, when this story first broke, the media made it seem as if Mr. Nagin just flipped out without explanation. Listening to the interview, for the majority of the interview he was calm, and those FEW outburst were justified. They didn't play Mr Nagin and the interviewer pausing to cry, they didn't play Mr. Nagin pleading with Dub-ya for help. Katrina was sent here for a purpose, and I firmly believe that Katrina is ripping away the Bush Administrations mask. Kanye was right, Bush doesn't care about black people, or any other minority for that matter! RAY NAGIN FOR PRESIDENT! Peace and Blessings!
