My Public Enemy Remix Makes The Finals
A couple months ago (on the suggestion of a homey) I entered Public Enemy Remix contest, sponsored by OBEY and M-Audio. PE through out the accapella for "Harder Than You Think", a cut off of their latest CD "How You Sell Soul To A Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul???". I really didn't think too much about it. I was working on a track for my man Doyle Robinson of The Rhythm Teacher. For the hell of it, I through the accapella on top of the beat and it just 'clicked'. It has that feel of old school "Nation Of Millions.." PE. Aftwards, I didn't think too much about it. But i just got word that I made it into the Top 24 entries. So cool! I mean, I really don't care if I win or not. I'd LOVE to get me some prizes for sure, but it's just cool to know out of 600+ entries my cut was picked for the top 24.
The pick the winners next week. I'm not really holding my breath. I haven't heard anyone elses remix, but I know I spent only about an hour on mine, so I'm thinking someone else who put some 'real' time into their mix deserves to win. But if I win it'll be a nice ending to a 'not so great' year.
